We decided to do this 5Dimes review after completing our review on IslandCasino since these two are related. There have been many references to 5Dimes in our Island Casino review so we thought of evaluating this gambling site next to do some comparisons. 5Dimes is one of the largest sportsbooks that continue to serve the US market. It has been in operation since 1998. It is a highly regarded sports betting site noted for offering low VIG lines and serving as a hospitable platform not only for pros but also for newbies.
One of the first things we quickly noticed about 5Dimes is that it has a very similar setup with Island Casino. We’re not stating this because we are surprised. We just want to point out that the implementation on 5Dimes is better. There’s a lot of information shown on the site but we didn’t feel lost not necessarily because we have been through a similar experience but because the way the 5Dimes website is presented feels a little more organized or polished.
5Dimes highlights the fact that it offers more than a thousand wagering options everyday. It is also touted as the gold standard in online gaming. It is a licensed and regulated online gambling operation that has a fair game system and guarantees a fun and safe experience for its players.
We are already aware that 5Dimes is one of the more reputable gambling destinations online so recommending it is not a difficult thing to do. However, be sure to read through our 5Dimes review to find out if its different features suit your preferences or if you are better off with other options. We try to comprehensively but concisely present everything there is you need to know about 5Dimes, especially since you might experience information overload if you try to read everything on the site.
The Complicated Account Registration Process
Just like the registration process in Island Casino, getting an account on 5Dimes is just as complicated. There is a long registration form to deal with. It requires you to indicate your first and last names, address, ZIP code, phone number, and email address. It also asks how you learned about 5Dimes. Basically, it’s a setup that says you can’t be anonymous to the 5Dimes’ administrators.
We are already aware that the login we created with Island Casino also works on 5Dimes and that players are not supposed to register more than one account for the 5Dimes.eu network of sites. However, to try something for this 5Dimes review, we decided to sign up for an account using fictitious details. We were able to get an account using false information. Apparently, the site does not have a system for checking the veracity of the information entered in the registration form.
We have encountered other casino sites before that also ask for phone numbers and addresses. They tend to have an automatic system for evaluating the truthfulness of the information. For example, ZIP codes and phone numbers that don’t match a city or state are red flagged so the registration is rejected. 5Dimes does not have this kind of system and we were able to sign up using inaccurate information. We’re not sure if this is good or bad but we have checked that it is no longer possible to edit the account information you entered during the registration process.
We can say that the registration process on 5Dimes is better than the one on Island Casino because we were correctly shown the message about the username 5Dimes has chosen for us. On Island Casino, we were told to remember a PIN code which was supposed to be the username. It took us some minutes to figure out that the PIN code is really the username we should be using.
Account Dashboard
Just like Island Casino, 5Dimes has this “duality” going on. The site looks different before and after you log in. Before you log in, the site actually looks more colorful and you can find loads and loads of information across all pages. Once you have logged in, the site most shows the games and veers away from the links to the information pages.
We have to mention in this 5Dimes review that we are not a fan of this kind of setup. If you are new to the site, you would feel like stepping into an alien world. The familiarity developed by going over the 5Dimes site is suddenly lost. For instance, you probably have remembered that live help contact numbers and live chat links can be located in a persistent box to the right of all pages. Once you have logged in, though, the layout and overall appearance of the site dramatically change. You can still access live help and the link the Help Center by clicking on the small question mark icon near the upper right corner of the page but it really feels different.
Anyway, the account dashboard allows you to view or monitor your wagers, transactions, daily and weekly figures, and bets. However, it does not show you information about yourself although it allows you to change your password. The Cashier page (withdrawal/deposit page) looks unfamiliar but you should be able to figure out how things work. Just remember this: if you are not a Chinese player, just skip the China UP option.
The Games
To avoid confusing you, the image for the games we are showing here is just the cropped screenshot of the game navigation bar. We think it’s a better way presenting the games. Actually, all of the games can be accessed through this games menu bar on top of all pages. Just hover your mouse pointer over the different game categories to see the links and access the games available under them.
There are 8 categories of games you can access on 5Dimes. These are Sportsbook, Casino, Live Dealer, Mini Games, Racebook, Lottery, Bingo, and Poker.
- The Sportsbook presents games across a multitude of sports types including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis, motor racing, boxing, mixed martial arts, UFC, and other sports events in different parts of the world. The Sportsbook also comes with the following highlight features: Betting Contest, March Madness, Live Betting Ultra, and Live Betting Extra.
- There are four types of casino games available: Grand Casino, Jackpot Casino, Bonus Casino, and Match Play Casino.
- There are two Live Dealer games namely, Vegas Live Dealer and Rebate Live Dealer.
- For the Mini Games, there are 22 available. These are Vegas Solitaire, All or Nothing Solitaire, Unlimited Vegas Solitaire, Options Blackjack, Rebate Blackjack, Surrender Blackjack, Single Deck Blackjack, Rebate Video Poker, All American Poker, Bonus Poker, Deuces Wild, Jacks or Better, Mega Joker Poker, Grid Iron Slots, Lucky Dwarfs (also a slot game), Pigs Strike Back Slots, Tarzan Slots, Wrath of Zeus Slots, Lab Rats (slots), and Baccarat.
- The Racebook features two playing options: Rebate and Plus 10%.
- The 5Dimes Lottery offers opportunities of winning up to $9,000 with options for doing a 1, 5, 10, or 25 quick picks.
- For the Bingo game, Bingo 75 and Bingo 90 formats can be played.
- Lastly, there are two poker games available: Shark Tank Poker and Grand Poker.
Except for the Sportsbook and Racebook, the games appear in full window popups. We are not fond of this kind of setup. It gets messy over time. It does not help that there are options within the games (the live chat for example) that also open to new popup windows. You will have to deal with a lot of popups if you are in a mood for trying the different games available.
Game loading speed is around average.
For most of the games, if you want to play, you need to make a deposit. We only found a Play for Fun option for the Bonus Casino games as we were about to conclude this 5Dimes review.
The 5Dimes Gaming Platform
The gaming platform of 5Dimes is provided by Realtime Gaming and Digital Gaming Solutions. It is not presented as a provably fair system but the assertion is that it is a fair system as indicated by the RTP certification issued in December 2015 by Certified Fair Gambling.
Also, based on the test conducted on 5Dimes games, payout percentage for slots is 96.971%, blackjack is 97.861%, video poker is 99.156%, table games is 98.957%, other games is 92.356%. The aggregate payout percentage for all games is 98.369%.
5Dimes Is Mobile-Friendly Until You Log In to Your Account
5Dimes has a great-looking mobile-friendly website but lacks mobile apps for Android or iOS. It immediately asks you to log in or register for an account. It is a mobile website that is apparently intended for those who already know about 5Dimes. The mobile homepage does not show information about what kind of website 5Dimes is so it’s unlikely going to serve as a platform for attracting new players.
If you can’t load a mobile-friendly version of the 5Dimes website, you can forcibly load a mobile-friendly site by using this URL: 5dimes[dot]mobi. You can click on this link near the upper right corner of the 5Dimes website.
Unfortunately, once you log in to your account, you will be directed to the games-only version of the Sportbet site, which is not mobile-friendly. In our 5Dimes review, we can’t say that it is mobile-friendly since the more important part of the site, the games, cannot be accessed through a mobile-friendly interface.
5Dimes Currency, Deposits, Withdrawals
5Dimes accepts fiat currency and bitcoins. However, we have to emphasize in this 5Dimes review that the fiat currency and bitcoin transactions cannot be integrated. Bitcoin deposits are to be withdrawn as bitcoins even as they get converted to fiat currency while playing games.
5Dimes supports multiple payment methods including Visa and MasterCard credit cards, person-to-person transactions, cashier check, money order, debit card funds application, credit card funds application, bitcoin, bank wire, sportsbook transfer, and account to account transfer.
Deposits can be made through Visa and MasterCard credit cards, China UnionPay, person-to-person transactions, money order, bitcoin deposits, sportsbook transfer, account to account transfer, Neteller, and Skrill Moneybookers. The minimum and maximum amount limits depend on the payment method but it’s within the $5 to $500 range. Except for the money order and person-to-person methods, there are usually no fees charged for the deposits.
Withdrawals can be made through person-to-person transactions, cashier check, money order, debit and credit card funds application, bitcoin, bank wire, prepaid card, sportsbook transfer, account to account transfer, Neteller, and Skrill Moneybookers. Only withdrawals made through bitcoin, sportsbook transfer, and account to account transfer are not charged a fee. The rest are charged from $15 to $80.

Does 5Dimes Support Anonymous Gambling?
Unfortunately, you can’t be anonymous to 5Dimes. During the registration process, you are required to provide your full name, address, and phone number. While we were able to successfully get an account using fictitious details, we are not sure of the repercussions. Our account is likely going to be invalidated eventually and our winnings, if we ever engaged in serious playing, are most likely going to be cancelled. 5Dimes is certainly not the best option if you want to be anonymous with your online gambling ventures.
Full Range of 5Dimes Customer Support
5Dimes is one of the few gambling sites we have encountered that offer a comprehensive range of customer support channels. It does not only provide support through email and live chat. It also has multiple telephone numbers to address specific needs. Support is available 24/7/. Although the site does not employ a persistent Support button to make it easy accessing the customer support numbers and live chat, it shows a box that appears on the right side of most pages of the site. This box contains all the numbers and links you need to access customer support.
The customer support email address is [email protected]. It also provides support through Twitter at @5Dimes and @5DimesLive.
The live chat support is made possible through LivePerson.net. We are not fond of this live chat support platform but we have to be objective in this 5Dimes review to say that the platform works well enough and the responsive and knowledgeable customer support representative makes us ignore the blandness of LivePerson.net and the hassle of having to open a separate tab to do the live chat.
The customer support telephone numbers are shown in the screenshot of the customer support box shown below.
Licensing and Countries Served
As mentioned, 5Dimes is one of the few online sportsbooks that continue to serve the United States and Canada. It is a legitimate online gambling operation in the United States and Canada albeit established and licensed in Costa Rica and carrying a .eu domain suffix. 5Dimes is mainly aimed at the North American market. If you are located in other parts of the world, we suggest that you contact customer support so you can be referred to the specific website in the 5Dimes network that specifically serves your location.
