GameTwist is dubbed as a classical platform for casino and skill games. It is a big online casino offering hundreds of games that can be played across all platforms, from desktop to mobile. This online casino, however, has one major drawback. Find out what this is by reading further into GameTwist review.

GameTwist offers an excellent collection of online casino games as well as skill games. These include slots, poker, and bingo. It also supports multiple payment methods. If you want to avail of bonuses, this site also has a few to offer. It’s a great option if you are looking for an online casino that also supports bitcoin betting.

But then again, this online casino has one major handicap that can easily become a deal-breaker for most online gambling enthusiasts. If you want to immediately know what this is, just proceed to the Currencies section of this review.

Account Registration

It should take very minimal time to complete the Gametwist registration form as it only asks for a few basic details. You only have to enter your nickname (username), email address, and password. Once you submit the completed form, your get your account in a few seconds. You may notice that you appear to have already been automatically logged because you can already see your username on the site. However, you actually aren’t logged in yet at this point of the account registration process. You still need to do an email verification. After clicking the email verification button or link (sent to your email account), you will then be brought to a page where you will be asked to enter your birthdate and answer a security question. Taking all of these into account, the account registration process could take around a minute. As mentioned, you are not automatically logged in to your account despite your username being indicated on the site. You will be asked to log in later on as you do crucial steps like buying twists.

Account Dashboard

GameTwist has an account dashboard with a unique look and feel. There’s a Personal Details page that you apparently have to update because it is likely that the GameTwist admin will ask you to verify your identity especially when you already decide to buy credits to be used in playing. If you are looking for the Cashier or Deposit/Withdrawal section, just click on the blue Buy Twists button. This will lead you to the page where you can obtain “twists” or the credits you will use to play on the site.

The Online Gambling Options on GameTwist

GameTwist offers a growing list of games. At the time we did this GameTwist review, the site had 214 slot games, 10 bingo games, 8 poker games, 2 scratchcard games, and 11 table games that include varieties roulette, blackjack, and baccarat. There were also 16 skill games featured on the site, namely Backgammon, 4-to-Win, Rummy, Canasta, Rummyclub, Belote, Spite and Malice, Hearts, Pachisi, Solitaire, Scopa, Yatzy Live, Buraco, Prophet, Battlefleet, and Tarneeb.

All games come with their respective information pages so you should be able to get a quick overview of what the games are all about.

You may not see a Play for Fun or Demo option for the games on GameTwist but they actually have a Spectator mode, which allows you to try the games without having to purchase twists yet. Well, these actually don’t matter anyway, as explained in the later part of this GameTwist review.

Game loading time based on our experience was around average to fast (on a 1Mbps+ connection). The games load in minimized sizes by default but there’s an option to load them as pop-ups. They also have fullscreen modes. They’re in 4:3  aspect ratio, something that may not look so suitable for most devices since desktops and mobile device displays nowadays sport the 16:9 aspect ratio or something closer to it.

The games look good in general. They are also adequately responsive. We have not encountered bugs or a slowdown in our web browser as we tried playing them.

GameTwist Game Software and Fairness

The games on GameTwist are from Novomatic and its subsidiary Greentube. These may not be the best software providers in the online casino industry but they are reputable enough. Novomatic provides games to some leading online casinos like FortuneJack. The games are not provably fair but we have no reason to doubt their fairness. Novomatic games are known to employ a random number generator (RNG) that guarantee honest and fair results. This RNG is also reviewed by iGaming.

GameTwist Is Mobile-Friendly

GameTwist is mobile compatible and can provide the kind of mobile gaming experience provided by a typical bitcoin mobile casino. It also has mobile apps for playing the games on smartphones or tablets. The iTunes App Store and Google Play Store logos on its homepage have not been properly linked (they don’t lead to the right iTunes and Play Store app pages) but GameTwist actually has mobile apps.

The Android app has a good rating (4.1 as of the time this GameTwist review was written) and has been installed by more than a million players.  The iTunes app, on the other hand, is similarly well-received by users. Both apps are available for free but allow players to do in-app purchases. They also support multiple languages and provide a bonus of 5,000 twists.

We were a little intrigued after finding out that GameTwist actually has iOS and Android apps for playing the games and they are listed on iTunes and the Google Play Store. Little did we know that the reason for this is something that would likely turn off most online gambling enthusiasts, as discussed below.

Currencies

GameTwist uses the virtual currency called “twists,” which can be obtained through various payment methods.

These payment methods are credit cards (Maestro, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express), PayPal, PaySafeCard, Skrill 1-Tap, Skrill Moneybookers, Neteller, DaoPay-Call, SMS payments, and of course bitcoins. In other words, you use fiat currency and bitcoins to play on GameTwist. As you buy twists, you will be asked to choose a currency. The currencies in the dropdown list are just the fiat currencies (no BTC), but this does not mean that bitcoins are not accepted. You are only being asked to choose a currency to have a consistent denomination when expressing amounts.

All the details you need to know about the payment methods can be displayed by clicking on the respective “i” buttons for the different payment methods. Bitcoin payments are done through Cubits.

As mentioned earlier, there’s a major drawback in GameTwist. So here’s the sad news: GameTwist does not let you convert your twists into real currency to be withdrawn. Basically, what happens here is that you are just paying for play money if you ever decide to buy twists. Regardless of the amount of twists you win and accumulate over time, there is no way to withdraw them in bitcoins or fiat currency like how it can be done with other online casinos. In a way, it can be said that GameTwist supports bitcoin betting because you can obtain “twists” through Cubits but the winnings you may get as you play with “twists” cannot be withdrawn.

Nevertheless, you don’t have to buy twists to be able to start playing using twists. Right from the start, all players are automatically granted at least 3,000 twists to be immediately used in playing on the site. There are also free twists given periodically.

Bonuses, Promotions, and Affiliate Program

There are several opportunities to get bonus twists on GameTwist. They are as follows:

• 3,000 Free Twists Upon Signup. These can’t be considered a sign up no deposit bonus. You automatically get it by simply registering for an account.
• Daily Bonus. We’re not sure how much bonus this daily bonus really offers but we had 30 twists for a couple of days for this. This bonus just appears on screen. It looks like the image below:

• Periodic Bonus Given through the Claim Bonus Button. Every once in a while, the persistent Claim Bonus on the lower right corner of the site gets activated. If you click this, you can get free twists. When we did this GameTwist review, we were able to get free twists from 20 to 100.
• Free Twists through Special Vouchers. If you subscribe to the GameTwist newsletter, you will be informed of free twists in the form of special vouchers that can be redeemed through the Redeem Voucher section of the GameTwist account dashboard.
• Prizes in Competitions. You can get many opportunities to earn free twists by participating in competitions. The details of these competitions are provided through the GameTwist newsletter.

There are no VIP programs and rewards on GameTwist, but it has an XP Points system. This program grants XPs or experience points to players for doing certain activities. The experience points can be exchanged with “a host of rewards” according to the site. Apparently, these rewards will only be offered to you or granted as a surprise. There is no fixed list of what can be redeemed for the XPs accumulated. We usually consider a loyalty points or player ranking system as a VIP program but for this GameTwist review, we cannot think of the XP Points system as a VIP program because the rewards or benefits are not clearly stated. The entire system actually appears vague so we feel obliged not to mislead players that they can feel like VIPs through this XP points system.

In addition to these free twist bonuses and experience points, GameTwist also has an affiliate program. This affiliate program promises requires you to sign up for a separate affiliate program account. You cannot use your GameTwist login here. This affiliate program promises real money earnings. However, the details are not readily presented on the site.

Country Restrictions, Anonymity, and Site Languages

GameTwist does not have country restrictions. After all, it’s unlike other online casinos. There is no actual wagering here. Playing on the site cannot be considered as a violation of the anti-online-gambling laws of countries worldwide.

However, you can’t be assured of your anonymity with this site since it may ask for proofs of identity as you buy “twists,” even when using bitcoins. As the site’s Terms and Conditions state, players must provide the following information when obtaining virtual goods and currencies: full name, birthdate, address, gender, phone number, and the answer to the security question created during the registration process.

As a gambling site that serves players from all parts of the world, GameTwist can be viewed in a good number of languages. This include English, Czech, German, Polish, Spanish, French, Hungarian/Magyar, Italian, Portuguese, Slovenian, Turkish, Russian, and Dutch.

GameTwist is owned by Funstage GmbH, a company based in Vienna, Austria. The company’s full name is Funstage Spielewebseitenbetriebsges.m.b.H., with the following registered address Wiedner Hauptstrasse 94, 1050 Vienna. It is a registered company with the registration number FN 258215d and DVR number 4007113. The company is registered as a provider of business consulting and information technology services. If there are complaints or disputes against GameTwist, they are to be addressed under Austrian law. Playing on GameTwist presumes that a player agrees that all complaints are disputes are to be settled exclusively under Regulation (EC) 593/2008 of the Austrian consumer law in the first district Vienna, Austria.

The GameTwist website is adequately secure. Player accounts are protected by a security question and data processing during payment transactions are guaranteed to be in compliance with the guidelines of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.

Notes

It’s really unfortunate that GameTwist is not the kind of online casino that allows you to make money by gambling online. It is one of the online casinos with the attractive and non-defective websites. It offers a good multitude of luck-based and skill-based games. To put it bluntly, GameTwist’s scheme is close to something like ripping off its players. It is making its players buy “twists” or credits but winnings don’t amount to anything but bragging rights or perhaps a feeling of satisfaction for having won in the games.

We are really hoping that this setup is just a trial run for GameTwist as it explores the viability of running an actual online casino that allows players to gamble and possibly win real money or cryptocurrency in the process. Perhaps, this gambling site is just trying to iron some kinks out like legality issues in operating in certain countries or jurisdictions. GameTwist is a great online casino so we hope it can transition someday into an online casino or even just a bitcoin betting site that allows players to convert their twist winnings into real money.
